Music Monday is a meme, created by Drew at The Tattooed Book Geek, where I focus on a song I absolutely love and feel needs to be shared.
Song: “Movement and Location”
Artist: Punch Brothers
Album: Who’s Feeling Young Now? (2012)
Lyrics taken from genius.com
Did he ever live
In those three and twenty years
For a thing but movement and location?
If she’d raised her voice
Not her sparkling shallow eyes
To indict my movement and location
Would the battle be lost?
You can watch the tape
You can try to hit your spots
But don’t do it for anything but the thrill of movement and location
Or the battle is lost
Led by mandolin prodigy Chris Thile, Punch Brothers show their musical prowess on the track “Movement and Location”. Another song about relationships, this tune’s limited lyrics give way to the virtuosity of the musicians. Each instrumentalist is classically trained, and this shows with each player’s part having short spotlights in the song. A pulsing tune that gives a demonstration of its title, “Movement and Location” is not idle in its structure and will easily get stuck in your head after just one listen.
