Music Monday is a meme, created by Drew at The Tattooed Book Geek, where I focus on a song I absolutely love and feel needs to be shared.
Song: “Echo”
Artist: The Dear Hunter
Album: The Color Spectrum: Orange EP (2011)
Lyrics taken from genius.com
[Verse 1]
Swaying back and forth
Drunk, looking for more
Pressing my tongue to my teeth, no sound
Skin begins to crawl
Stomach start to fall
Feeling my lungs quicken pace
And blood begin to run
[Chorus]
Echo a name in the night
Bodies a long battle cry
Are we in love, or did we cross the line?
Maybe we’re passing time one on one
[Instrumental]
[Chorus]
Echo a name in the night
Bodies a long battle cry
Are we in love, or did we cross the line?
Maybe we’re passing time one on one
Another song from The Dear Hunter’s 2011 release, The Color Spectrum, “Echo” comes from the Orange EP. Featuring more blues and rock-style guitar, the track keeps a balance between the two genres as Crescenzo describes a night on the town after a few too many. The guitars take center stage in “Echo”, with the instrumental parts supplanting the short supply of lyrics. Percussive and enticing, the song contains an isolated instrumental section that climaxes with a bluesy guitar solo before segueing back into the main groove; another fantastic song for driving with the windows down in the summer heat.
