Music Monday is a meme, created by Drew at The Tattooed Book Geek, where I focus on a song I absolutely love and feel needs to be shared.
Song: “Belvedere”
Artist: INTERVALS
Album: The Way Forward (2017)
Most people think of virtuoso guitarists as just playing scales really fast and showing off; Aaron Marshall, and his project INTERVALS, is the exception. Though he knows his instrument intimately, and his amazing ability is showcased at times, he is able to write instrumental songs that are not boring or showy; a prime example of this is “Belvedere” from 2017’s The Way Forward. Relying upon a fairly simple groove and melodic phrase, “Belvedere” creates a pop music feel while still showcasing the musicianship of the players. Marshall’s guitar lines and chord progressions create an upbeat track that is as much of an earworm as any pop hit on the radio…in a good way.

All of your music recommendations are always spot on, and this one is no exception! Really liked how things built up in the beginning–added a lot of layers.
